Head Academy Instructor
I'm Guilherme "Poeta" Neves, and I'm the Head Instructor of Team Randori Martial Arts. I was born June 18, 1985, in Jacareí, a small town in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. I started my martial arts journey at the age of 8 years old, training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. As I got older, I moved to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for a short time and later returned to my hometown and then began practicing Judo. It was during this time that I met my main Head Coach, Professor Marcelo Siqueira. I then began training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. After training under Professor Marcelo — who was a student of the famous Master Luiz Dagmar from the Careca-Atos BJJ team — I decided to travel to other cities in Brazil in search of better training opportunities. My pursuits led me to train with several renowned and world-class athletes.
In 2013, I earned a black belt and began my transition into Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) to seek new challenges. I had my first MMA fight after only five months of training and built a successful career. Wanting to return to Jiu-Jitsu, I decided to go back to the mats to teach.
In 2018, I moved to the United States and had two more professional MMA fights before fully retiring to focus fully on coaching. With my experiences, I became a coach for MMA athletes and helped form several champions. Throughout my career, I was involved in coaching professional MMA athletes such as Raoni Barcellos, Anderson Silva, Ronaldo “Jacaré,” Hannah Goldy, Phillip Rowe, Lyoto Machida, Warlley Alves, Alan Nuguete, Lucas Alexander, and Sean O’Malley (Sugar Sean), among others.
I was responsible for producing multiple world champions throughout several belt divisions. Most notably, are the champions from the 2025 International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) Pan American Championships, held at the Silver Spur Arena, in Kissimmee, Florida. My experience in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and grappling is extensive. I have won multiple titles through the IBJJF and Campeonato Brasileiro de Jiu Jitsu (CBJJE) and am a well-known figure in both the Jiu-Jitsu and MMA communities.
I remain active, participating in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Grappling superfights from time to time and I teach because I love what I do.
My goals now are to dedicate more time my students. I look forward to all the adventures that life has in store for me and personally coaching my son and two daughters to become Jiu Jitsu World Champions.
