Many traditional martial arts systems focus on striking an opponent as a means of self-defense. While this might be effective in some situations, it isn't ideal to take on a larger attacker that way. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu takes a different approach. Instead of relying on strength and speed, Jiu Jitsu is designed to help smaller and weaker defenders use body position and leverage to overpower and control and bigger and stronger attackers.
